Eating out in Stone Town.

Due to Zanzibar's colourful history also its food is very divers. In Stone Town you will find many different types of restaurants for example influenced by the Indian and Arabian cuisine. Fresh vegetables, seafood and chicken are often prepared in the mix with exotic spices, oriental rice or also homemade fries. If you are seeking for a little snack during your city tour check out the Archipelago Café (Mizingani Road, Shangani). It is located right at the sea and offers a nice view on the local beach as well as nice and fresh local dishes - also vegetarian ones by the way! There's a homemade beef burger, always fresh fish ("catch of the day", e.g. tuna) and several salads and soups. Prices are mostly below 10€.

If you prefer a "complete" and fancier (also more expensive) lunch or dinner and various choices you will find more good restaurants in the neighbourhood: Monsoon Restaurant, Rhada Food House (vegetarian) or the Indian Seaview Restaurant. Prices range from 6 to 18€.

Also the Mercury's with drinks and burgers is around the corner. Did you know that Freddy Mercury was born on Zanzibar?
