Ibiza. A travel report. Part II: Urban vs. Country.

Well-known and still popular are the local Hippie markets on the island. The biggest one is taking place on Wednesdays in Es Canar, the more traditional one on Saturdays in Sant Carles. Last-named is much more charming and especially its night version on Mondays should be on everyone’s schedule:

Going more urban, Eivissa, Ibiza’s picturesque capital, offers many options to spend an entire day in town: historical sightseeing, shopping, dining and partying. La Oliva in the Old Part of Eivissa (Dalt Vila) is one of the most popular restaurants in town and a reservation is highly recommended. The food is very good - e.g. the homemade pasta with Pulpo or the legendary Crema Catalana - and not too pricy, the guests are a mix of quality-loving tourists and demanding locals:

The small town of Santa Gertrudis a few kilometers north of Eivissa is one of the most charming villages on the island. After a little walk and short visit of the church an extended tapas dinner at the Bar Destino is the best thing to close the day with. Owner Ramon and his team do serve the most delicious and special tapas on Ibiza as they are a creative mix of cold and hot Spanish and Arabian tapas. (There’s a second one in Sant Josep by the way…)

Hotel-Tipp: The Finca hotel La Colina nearby Santa Eularia is a perfect accommodation for individual travelers who appreciate a cute, calm and comfortable place. The staff is most friendly and helpful with all kind of recommendations and also reservations:
